Trip plan

We will leave Rurrenabaque at 8:30 am.  After an hour’s boat journey we will  visit a local community to discover more about our way of life and share a little bit with the local people. Then we will continue our journey, enjoying beautiful scenery such as the Bala Canyon. Upon arriving at our eco-lodge, "Mashaquipe", you will be welcomed with a refreshing glass of fruit juice, will be shown your accommodation and we will then have lunch. In the afternoon we will visit the bamboo forest, a good place for seeing animals such as peccaries, turtles and others. You may also be surprised by the giant trees that grow in the rainforest. On our return to the eco-lodge we will have dinner and then rest.

The noisy concert of the howler monkeys and a variety of birds will welcome the new day. After a good breakfast you will learn a little of our culture by making various crafts such as rings and fans, be shown how to use traditional bows etc. After lunch we will take our camping equipment (mosquito net, mattress, sleeping bag) ready to spend our first night in the depths of the jungle. It will take about 5 hours of leisurely walking to get there. Along the way we can see various birds, including toucans, macaws and guans; howler monkeys, spider monkeys and a variety of higher plants. After dinner we can take a short night walk

Breakfast will be at 7:30.  Then we will make a circuit around the "Patujusal" camp in order to look for spider monkeys and to continue to enjoy the surprising array of biodiversity, including plants and insects. We will go back to the camp for lunch. In the afternoon we will go to our camp named "Arenalito". Before arriving we will see, from the top of a mountain, spectacular macaws and parrots; a magnificent view of Madidi National Park and a beautiful sunset. We will then have dinner and rest.

Different sounds of birds and monkeys greet the new day. We will have breakfast at about 8:00 am, collect our belongings and then go to the River Tuichi where we will build a log raft (traditional transport of indigenous Amazonian people) and go rafting for about 2 hours. However we will also have the boat for security, for our backpacks and for people who do not wish to participate in this activity. We will have lunch at the Mashaquipe eco-lodge and in the afternoon the group can either relax or choose which activity it wants to do.

We will get up at 6.00 am and have breakfast before returning to Rurrenabaque where we will arrive at about 8.30am. We will immediately leave for Santa Rosa. Along the way we will have great opportunities to see sloths, anteaters, birds, and other animals. Around midday we will take a boat trip of about 15 minutes to our eco-lodge, “The Turtles”. You will be shown your accommodation and we will have lunch. In the afternoon, after a rest, we will go along the River Yacuma by boat to look for and take pictures of caimen, capybara, turtles, many bird species and others. Before we return we may be able to swim with the beautiful pink river dolphins which live in this wonderful place.

(This is dependent upon the season.)

We will get up early (5:00 am) to watch the sunrise and listen to the sounds of howler monkeys and birds which herald the awakening of the pampas. We will have breakfast and then go back out on the River Yacuma to find for a good place to walk and look for anacondas, which with a little luck, we will see. During our tour we will continue to see a variety of birds, capybara, caimen, turtles and other animals. Then after lunch we will take the car and return to Rurrenabaque where we will arrive at  about 4:30 p.m.
